Vienna can offer 360 monkeypox vaccinations for now. The first 18 were given with the start of the new week.
Pre-registration in Vienna as of now
On Monday, the first 18 of 360 monkeypox vaccinations were delivered, which can be offered by the Federal Capital for the time being. Pre-registrations, meanwhile, have continued to rise and currently stand at 1,957 people, said the office of the city health council. About two-thirds (66.3 percent) of those preregistered have indicated they belong to a high-risk group.

The appointments extend over four weeks – that is, 18 injections per day since the “vaccinations are accompanied by particularly detailed educational talks on the individual risk profile,” as was communicated before the vaccination started. The second vaccinations follow in the four weeks after that – this is also the recommended minimum interval between the two injections. Further dates are to be released for preventive vaccinations as soon as new vaccine supplies arrive in Austria.

There have been 300 reported monkeypox cases in Austria so far, with 95 sufferers (31.7 percent) of those affected reported as recovered in the Epidemiological Notification Register (EMS), according to last Friday’s update from the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES). In Austria, no life-threatening disease has yet occurred in connection with monkeypox (MPX); in a few cases, affected persons had to be treated in hospitals.
